Effective Teaching & Assessment to Maximize Learning
There are so many diverse methods to differentiate instruction and assess student progress toward goals and standards, using project-based learning, formative & summative assessments and rubrics...sometimes it's difficult to determine where to begin!
Begin with the standards, then use Bloom's Taxonomy, learning styles & rubrics to design your assessments. Links below can help you get started.
In 1956, Benjamin Bloom headed a group of educational psychologists who developed a classification of levels of intellectual behavior important in learning. During the 1990's a new group of cognitive psychologists, lead by Lorin Anderson (a former student of Bloom), updated the taxonomy to reflect relevance to 21st century work. The most significant change between the original & revised taxonomy is the change from the use of nouns to verbs associated with each level.
